AMAC was established as New Zealand's first independent abortion clinic in 1974 and offers a prompt and private one-day service for women not wanting to attend a public hospital. The clinic is fully licensed and accredited with Health Accreditation NZ and now offers both surgical and medical options for abortion.
AMAC is owned and operated as a charity, and is self-funding through patient fees. Each patient is encouraged to bring a support person for the day, and will be looked after in a private room with a choice of videos. Tea and coffee is also provided.
Since July 2003, AMAC has offered women a choice of methods. Details of both procedures are available by clicking links to either the surgical procedure or the medical procedure. More detail on both procedures is available on this website in the link to doctors info.
