Facts and statistics

 

To ensure patient confidentiality, no information is made public that might identify and individual patient.

Statistics are collected on a national basis by the Abortion Supervisory Committee and published in aggregate from by the Department of Statistics. Nationwide abortion statistics are available from the Department of Statistics website for each year since 1977, including demographic analyses of abortion figures in terms of ethnicity, age etc.

The Department also publishes details about the collection of information that may be of interest to students and others studying abortion.
