Before a woman can have an abortion in New Zealand, she has to see two Certifying Consultants who must agree that her request for an abortion satisfies the requirements of New Zealand abortion laws. All women must be offered counselling.

Auckland Medical Aid Centre Ltd (AMAC) offers professional support during this time, which is unbiased and non-judgemental. The support includes certifying consulting, counselling, medical advice and care.
